A FIRE broke out in a kitchen of an Indian restaurant earlier on Thursday.
Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service (DWFRS) was called to attend Joy Restaurant, Ringwood Road, Ferndown, just before 2pm.
The upstairs flat was also evacuated as a precaution while fire – which had broken out in an extractor fan – was extinguished.
No-one was injured in the incident.
A DWFRS spokesman said: "We were called to Ringwood Road, Ferndown at 1.56pm today for a fire in a commercial kitchen – three crews attended, from Redhill Park, Springbourne and Poole, together with the aerial ladder platform from Westbourne.
"The building consists of a restaurant on the ground floor and a flat above, the occupants of the flat were evacuated as a precaution.
"Two breathing apparatus wearers used two hose reel jets to extinguish the fire, which started in an extraction unit, and ventilation fans were used to clear the smoke.
"Our stop came at 2.49pm and all appliances have now left the scene other than Redhill, with the crew continuing to cut away and damp down."
