MORE than 870 people have tested positive for coronavirus in the last 24 hours, latest figures show.
Data released by the government shows 878 people tested positive across the county in the 24 hours leading up to 4pm on Friday.
The BCP Council area had 628 cases, taking the total since the start of the pandemic to 13,518 cases.
In the seven days leading up to January 3, the latest rolling seven-day period available, 2,671 cases were confirmed, giving a rolling infection rate of 675.6 per 100,000 people.
The Dorset Council area recorded 250 cases over the last 24 hours, taking the total to 6,201.
The rolling rate stood at 322.6 per 100,000, with 1,221 cases confirmed in the last rolling seven-day period.
Yesterday, 458 cases were recorded in the county.
Elsewhere, 144 cases were confirmed in the New Forest, taking the total to 3,608.
The rolling rate was 378.7 per 100,000 after 682 cases were confirmed in the week before January 3.
