THE entirety of the BCP Council area had a coronavirus infection rate of more than 400 cases per 100,000 people.
According to the government’s interactive map, BCP was showing as purple, meaning rates were above 400, with many areas above 800, showing as dark purple.
Springbourne & Queen’s Park had the highest infection rate, with 1,148 cases per 100,000 in the seven days leading up to January 11.
In total, 28 areas across BCP were showing as a ‘hotspot’, meaning rates were above 800.
Boscombe West recorded 153 cases in those seven days, giving a rate of 1,437.
Elsewhere, East Verwood, Alderholt & Sixpenny Handley, Corfe Mullen, Upton & Lytchett Minster, Corfe Castle & Langton Matravers, Swanage and Dorchester West & Pundbury were the only areas in Dorset to have a rate of more than 400.
