A SURGERY in Highcliffe has started administering vaccinations fort the first time after revealing that they were struggling to get hold of Covid-19 vaccines.
Highcliffe Medical Centre in Lymington Road had previously stated that they have been unable to provide Covid-19 vaccinations due to the “regulations around the movement of vaccines”.
However the surgery has started providing vaccination on Saturday January 16 and are slowly working their way through residents in the area, making sure everyone receives the potentially lifesaving jab.
In a statement published on Facebook on Friday January 15, Highcliffe Residents Association said: “We are delighted to hear that the Covid vaccine is now being administered to patients registered at Highcliffe Medical Centre.
“This is mainly being given to the over 80's at this stage.
“Please don't call the Medical centre, they will call you with an appointment.”
Following the news last week that the surgery were struggling to provide vaccinations, the Highcliffe Action Group stepped to highlight the good work that Highcliffe Medical Centre are continuing to do.
The group run the #LoveHighcliffe Facebook page, which has over 3,000 loyal followers who interact and comment on posts.
Having posted pictures of staff at the medical practice with a post to rally support for the surgery, the group were inundated with responses from residents.
Highcliffe Action Team’s Communications Officer Jane Dean said: “We wanted to embrace a hopeful and positive ethos as there’s so much good taking place in our village.
“HAT are proud to pay homage to the wonderful team at our very own Highcliffe Medical Centre who have stayed open throughout this pandemic. They continue to work tirelessly under such extreme pressure and form a vital part of our community.
“Just look at the glowing comments in reaction to their FB post. Even the Health Centre responded on their page, stating ‘thank you - it’s so nice to be appreciated’.”
