Covid vaccine: The number of jabs given to Dorset residents

Statistics have been issued at a more localised level for the first time and show that a cumulative total of 68,693 vaccine jabs have been given to people across the county.

This breaks down as 60,195 first jabs and 8,498 second jabs, with the numbers covering the period from December 8, 2020, up until Sunday, January 17.

Of the second jabs administered, 6,970 were given to people aged 80 and over.

According to the data, 51,697 Dorset residents had received just their first jab.

The figures, released on Thursday, January 21, do not include any data since the opening of the vaccination centre at the BIC.

There are now more than 20 sites in Dorset administering Covid vaccinations, with the BIC able to deliver 9,000 a week once it reaches capacity.

Other sites include GP-led clinics and at the county's three main hospitals – Dorset County Hospital, Dorchester, Poole Hospital and Royal Bournemouth Hospital.

Across the whole of the south west 52,083 people have received both doses of the vaccine, with a further 363,004 having had just their first jab.
