NEARLY 150 complaints about failures to follow Covid-19 rules were received by BCP Council in just 13 days.
And 85 of them related to businesses being open when they shouldn't be.
A total of 63 came from people who were worried about social distancing and the wearing of face coverings.
The complaints were received between January 11 and January 24.
There were also 69 complaints between January 4 and 11.
The council is now focusing on safety in supermarkets and checking retailers which sell a mix of essential and non-essential goods.
Councillor May Haines, Portfolio Holder for Community Safety said: "From January 11 until January 24 Regulatory Services have received 148 complaints concerning COVID-19 compliance. There were a further 36 enquiries from businesses requiring help and advice.
"85 of the complaints were concerning businesses being open with the rest of the complaints concerning social distancing and the wearing of face coverings.
"We are continuing to provide advice and support to businesses through this period and are currently focusing efforts on COVID-safe measures in supermarkets as well as retailers that sell a mix of essential and non-essential items."
