A FAMILY in Bournemouth now consists of five generations thanks to the arrival of a lockdown baby.
Baby Elijah, born to Bournemouth parents Casey Blake and Oscar Barnes, is now the fifth generation to a family in Bournemouth, Yetminster and America.
Great-grandmother Sonia, 59, from Yetminster is delighted that the family has a new arrival.
She said: "This has been a little bit of happiness in amongst all the doom and gloom of this year. I have been shielding since the beginning, so I’m just waiting for the day we can see each other and all have a photo together. My dad, who’s 89, is Elijah’s great-great grandad.
"I haven’t been able to meet up with the family or see Elijah yet and it’s been very difficult as I want to be able to see him and give him a hug. It’s upsetting but it’s also a relief that I can see him through video calls.
"All of this is something for me to strive towards. I’m on the vulnerable list so I’m hoping that I’ll receive my letter for the vaccine soon."
The family is also expecting another new arrival this year.
Sonia said: "I’m going to become a nan again too – a nan and a great-nan all in the same year. My eldest daughter is having her first child in April, so that’s exciting for us as well. She told us the news during lockdown, so there has been quite a lot of exciting baby news for us during the lockdown."
