FOR the second consecutive evening, Poole Lifeboat was called to a report of a person in the water off Bournemouth sea front.
The lifeboat was launched by UK Coastguard just after 7pm on Thursday.
The original report was a person had fallen off Bournemouth Pier into the water, with people on scene trying to recover.
The RNLI said: “Conditions were choppy and initially both lifeboats were requested to immediately launch, then as the lifeboat volunteers headed down the harbour, information came through over the radio that the person had been recovered from the water, so the D Class was stood down and returned to station.
“The lifeboat was asked to continue to the scene to standby. When the lifeboat arrived on scene, Poole Coastguard rescue team and Southbourne Coastguard were on the pier, the lifeboat was tasked to conduct a search around the pier, as there was some confusion as to where the person was.
“As the weather was freshening, with the wind picking up from up from the south west, checks were being made on the shore and information was being collated as the lifeboat continued to search and then the volunteer crew were requested to stand by.
“Eventually, UK Coastguard requested that the lifeboat stand down and return to station, the lifeboat volunteers, headed home, through the squally showers.
“The lifeboat was washed down, refuelled and made ready for service by 9.30pm.”
