SNOW won’t be making an appearance in Dorset this weekend despite many parts of the country bracing for wintry conditions.
While cold conditions are to be expected, it will be a “very wet weekend” across the county with temperatures between 5C and 7C.
Bournemouth-based forecaster DorsetSnow said next week could bring the coldest period of weather since March 2018.
He said: “It looks like a very wet weekend with cold rain for all. Saturday starts very wet and gusty, but the wind and rain should ease gradually during the late afternoon/evening.
“Slightly calmer on Sunday with initial dry weather during the morning, but some patchy rain/sleet (on high ground) moving in during the afternoon. Cold with highs of just 5-7c.
He added: “The unsettled theme continues into next week, before the risk of the coldest period of weather since March 2018 increases later in the week.”
The Met Office has issued a series of weather alerts for snow and ice for next week but they do not currently include Dorset.
Last Sunday residents in coastal areas of Dorset missed out on snow while people living in the east and north of the county, including Shaftesbury, Cranborne and Blandford, enjoyed wintry scenes.
DorsetSnow said this was after a southerly wind “developed just ahead of the weather front and brought with it that much milder air and higher dew points”.
