OVER 200 coronavirus cases were confirmed across Dorset over the last 24 hours, figures reveal.
Data released by the government shows 223 cases were recorded in the county in the 24 hours leading up to 4pm today, Saturday, February 6.
The BCP Council area recorded 128 new cases, taking the total since the start of the pandemic to 23,102.
In the seven days leading up to February 1, the latest seven-day rolling period, 1,312 cases were confirmed in BCP, giving a rolling infection rate of 331.9 per 100,000.
The Dorset Council area recorded 95 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total to 10,257.
The rolling rate stood at 188.6 per 100,000 after 714 cases were recorded in the lead up to February 1.
Elsewhere, 23 cases were confirmed in the New Forest, taking the total to 5,470.
The rolling rate was 132.7 with 239 cases confirmed in a week.
Additionally, government data up to February 5 details the 11,975,267 jabs given in the UK.
So far, 11,465,210 of these were first doses – a rise of 494,163 on the previous day’s figures.
Some 510,057 were second doses, an increase of 4,064 on figures released the previous day.
The seven-day rolling average of first doses given in the UK is now 440,896.
Based on the latest figures, an average of 392,754 first doses of vaccine would be needed each day in order to meet the government’s target of 15 million first doses by February 15.
