I THOUGHT it was a very good article in the Echo on February 10 regarding MP’s expenses and was certain you would be inundated with letters in this respect.

As no letters have appeared I felt I just had to write with my comments.

At a time when so many people are losing their jobs it seems an incredible amount that an MP should receive, £171,248.94 in expenses in addition to their salary.

Especially as hardly any of them are in the House of Commons these days and people have mentioned to me that they wonder what MP’s do with their time.

‘No comment’ is, I would say unacceptable, especially as it was not so long ago that there was a scandal regarding MP’s expenses.

I would have thought since then they would be very careful and accountable.
