MORE than 275,000 Covid vaccine doses have been administerd across Dorset - but the number of weekly jabs reported was down for the second seven-day period in a row.
Figures released by NHS England show that 275,006 doses have been given across the county, with more than 250,000 residents receiving at least one dose.
In the seven days to February 21, 34,116 jabs were given in Dorset.
As reported, 39,679 doses were administered in the week to February 14 and 47,083 were delivered in the week to February 7.
National reports have suggested there have been supply issues in recent weeks, however, a Dorset Clinical Commissioning Group spokesperson told the Daily Echo said there is sufficient supply in the county to vaccinate those in the priority cohorts.
The latest vaccine figures report that a total of the 9,141 Dorset residents have received both doses to date. This broke down as:
- 7,157 people aged over 80
- 27 people aged 75 to 79
- 37 people aged 37 aged 70 to 74
- 101 people aged 65 to 69
- 1,819 people aged under 65s
A further 256,724 people have received just their first dose across the county since vaccinations began in December. This broke down as:
- 49,353 people aged over 80
- 38,497 people aged 75 to 79
- 49,990 people aged 37 aged 70 to 74
- 36,548 people aged 65 to 69
- 82,336 people aged under 65s
Across England, more than 15.4 million vaccine doses had been administered up to February 21 as the immunisation programme continues.
There are more than 20 sites in Dorset administering Covid-19 vaccinations, including the BIC which is able to deliver 9,000 a week once it reaches capacity.
Other sites include GP-led clinics and at the county's three main hospitals – Royal Bournemouth Hospital, Dorset County Hospital, Dorchester and Poole Hospital.
There are over 20 sites delivering vaccines across the Dorset Council and BCP Council area.
In addition, as part of the roll-out of the programme, this week saw health leaders working together to deliver pop-up clinics at local mosques to encourage the Muslim community to get their jabs along with clinics to offer homeless people in Bournemouth vaccinations, working alongside the local YMCA.
