DORSET Police launched appeals for witnesses this week in relation to a range of crimes across the county including a hate crime, a burglary and a serious crash.

In appeals issued by the force, officers have urged anybody who has information that could help in the investigations to get in touch.

Anyone who can assist police with their enquiriues should call 101 and quote the relevant reference number, which has been put in bold.

Burglary and attempted break-in at Poole community centre

Officers investigating a burglary and attempted break-in at a community centre in Poole are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

Officers attended Branksome Community Centre in Recreation Road at around 1.30am on Wednesday, February 10, following a report that a window had been smashed at the premises.

CCTV showed three males, described as being aged around 16 to 18, approach the centre at around 1.20am and try to access the front doors before throwing stones at the glass window. One of them then kicked the glass before they all appeared to leave the scene on hearing police arriving.

One of the males was wearing a dark jumper with a white Hugo Boss logo across the chest, dark jogging bottoms and trainers.

A second was wearing a thick puffer jacket with two panels of colour at the top and bottom as well as jogging bottoms and trainers.

The third was wearing an open coat with a hooded top that had a colour band and writing across the chest. All three had their hoods up and were wearing baseball caps.

At around 12.50am on Tuesday, February 16, Dorset Police received a further report of a break-in at the centre. It was reported that a boarded-up window had been broken and access was gained to the premises.

Nothing is believed to have been taken. CCTV enquiries showed two offenders whose clothing matched the descriptions of the first two males for the incident on February 10.

Reported disturbance in Poole

Detectives investigating a reported disturbance in Poole are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

At around 8.15pm on Monday, February 22, Dorset Police received a report of a disturbance involving a group of people in the vicinity of the Star off licence in Bournemouth Road.

Officers attended and two men were subsequently found with injuries in Ashley Road. One of the men was reportedly found in possession of a knife.

A 26-year-old Poole man was arrested on suspicion of affray and a 22-year-old Bournemouth man was arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon in a public place.

Both men were taken to hospital for treatment before being released and taken into police custody.

Following further enquiries, a 33-year-old Poole man was arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent and affray and a 41-year-old woman from Poole was arrested on suspicion of affray.

All four of those arrested are assisting detectives with their enquiries as their investigation continues.

Dog attack in Bournemouth

Officers investigating a dog attack in Bournemouth are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

Between around 6.30am and 6.45am on Friday, February 19, the victim, a local woman in her 40s, was walking her dog on Turbary Common. Just after she had entered the common, she saw a reddish Pomeranian type dog coming from under a bush. This dog ran over to the victim and started attacking her by jumping up and biting her hand.

She was shouting at the dog to stop and her own dog then came and stood by her as if to protect her. She put her dog between her legs, when the offending dog then turned on her dog and started biting its ears and nose.

The owner of the Pomeranian type dog was walking toward her, but did not call off his dog, when her own dog jumped up at the male owner, but did not bite him.

The man is described as white, in his 50s and having broad shoulders. His hair is white and thinning and he was wearing a blue anorak and dark trousers.

The victim suffered bites to both hands and attended hospital for treatment. Her dog sustained puncture wounds.

Reported assault in Poole

Officers investigating an alleged assault on a child in Poole are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

It was reported that at around 3.50pm on Monday, February 22, a man was seen with an eight-year-old girl outside the Co-op store in Blandford Road, Hamworthy. The man allegedly assaulted the girl before they went into a nearby address.

Officers attended and located the man and the girl, who were known to each other. The girl did not sustain any serious injuries.

A 42-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of assault and he has been released on police bail while enquiries continue.

Hate crime incident in Bournemouth

Officers investigating an incident where a shop worker was racially abused in Bournemouth are issuing CCTV images of a woman they would like to speak with.

At around 7.45am on Thursday, January 21, a woman entered the Co-op store in Madeira Road and made a coffee from the shop’s coffee machine. The woman then went to leave without paying for the coffee and a member of staff challenged her.

She responded by shouting racial abuse at the man and threw the coffee over his uniform.  The man did not sustain any injuries.

Police issued the CCTV appeal on Wednesday, February 24.

Reported drugs incident in Bournemouth

Officers are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a man was searched for allegedly being in possession of drugs in Bournemouth.

At around 11am on Saturday, February 20, officers were approached by a member of the public reporting that a man was acting suspiciously on Richmond Park Avenue.

Officers stopped the man and he was detained for a search under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

A quantity of suspected cannabis was located in the driveway of a nearby property and seized.

A man, aged 37 and from Bournemouth, was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of class B.

He has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

“I am particularly keen to hear from the member of the public who initially approached officers at the incident. We unfortunately were unable to take your details at the time and would like to speak to you to find out more information.”

Theft and fraudulent use of a bank card in Bournemouth

Officers investigating the theft of a bank card and its subsequent fraudulent use are issuing two images of a man they would like to speak with.

Sometime between Wednesday, January 13, and Friday, January 15, the victim lost her bank card.

She noticed it was missing on January 15, checked her bank account online and realised her card has been used to pay for online gambling transactions totalling £930.

It was also used in three shops in Boscombe.

Police made a public appeal in relation to the incident on Friday, February 26.

Serious injury crash in Bournemouth

Officers investigating a serious injury road traffic collision in Bournemouth are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam footage to come forward.

At around 4.35pm on Thursday, February 25, a collision occurred on St Leonard’s Road, near to the junction with Stewart Road, involving a silver Ford Transit panel van and a pedestrian.

Emergency services attended and the pedestrian – a Bournemouth man aged in his 20s – was taken to hospital and is being treated for injuries that are believed to be serious but not life-threatening. His family has been informed.
