AN UNINSURED drink driver who was more than four times the legal limit has been handed a suspended prison sentence.
Wojciech Babiarz, 36, was said to have been at the wheel of a Ford Focus in Worgret Road, Wareham, on June 19 last year.
District judge Stephen Nicholls, sitting at Poole Magistrates’ Court, was told he provided a sample of 143 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath – the legal limit is 35 micrograms.
The court heard the defendant, of Nortoft Road, Bournemouth, also did not have insurance at the time of the drink driving incident.
Babiarz admitted both driving offences, as well as failing to surrender to custody at court on October 20, 2020, having been bailed the previous month.
The bench committed him to prison for 12 weeks, suspended for 12 months, with a custodial punishment deemed appropriate due to the high alcohol reading. He was given a three-year driving ban and ordered to pay £128 surcharge and £85 costs.
