A MOTORCYCLIST has died at the scene of a crash near Wimborne.
The 67-year-old man, from Poole, was riding a gold-coloured Honda motorcycle when it was involved in the accident, which happened on the B3082 Blandford Road, close to the turning for Kingston Lacy.
Emergency services were called at 12.58pm today, Wednesday, March 17, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
This is the second fatal motorcycle crash on Dorset's roads this week.
A man in his 20s was killed in a crash in Poole on Monday evening.
On the B3082 incident, Dorset Police Sergeant Craig Tatton, of the traffic unit, said: "We are investigating the circumstances of the collision and I am appealing for any witnesses to the incident to please come forward.
“Also, I would urge anyone who has dashcam fitted to their vehicle to please view it to see if they have captured anything relevant that might help our investigation.
“We would like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding while the road closures are in place.”
Road closures have been put in place to allow the emergency services to attend and specially-trained police crash investigators to conduct a thorough examination of the scene.
The rider's next of kin have been notified.
