AROUND 100 bunches of flowers and scores of touching messages have been left at the scene of a fatal motorbike crash.

Floral tributes have been attached to a lamppost alongside the Dorset Way in Poole.

And flowers, a wooden cross and cards have also been placed up the bank.

A motorcyclist in his 20s died at the scene of the crash, which took place between the Tower Park roundabout and the Oakdale slip road on Monday evening.

He was riding a Honda motorbike, believed to be the only vehicle involved. The rider has not been named.

A tribute from his brother at the scene says: "Forever in my heart. Thank you for being the best brother, you always shined light in the dark."

Others included: "Forever in my heart, I love you mate" and "You will be missed dearly."

Police have appealed for witnesses to come forward as they try to establish the cause of the crash.

The coroner has been informed and an inquest will be held at a date to be fixed.

The tragedy was one of two fatal motorcycle collisions on Dorset roads in just two days.

A 67-year-old Poole man died when his gold-coloured Honda was involved in a collision on the B3082 Blandford Road, near Wimborne, just before 1pm on Wednesday.

Following the Dorset Way crash, the road was closed between the Fleetsbridge and Tower Park roundabouts to allow collision investigators to examine the scene safely.

Police Sergeant Mark Scammell, of the traffic unit, said: "Our thoughts are with this young man’s family and friends at this very difficult time.

"We are investigating the circumstances surrounding this collision and I would appeal to anyone who was travelling along Dorset Way at the time of the collision, or immediately prior to it, and saw the motorcycle involved to please contact Dorset Police."

He said he is keen to hear from anyone who may have captured the motorbike or the crash on dashcam and thanked motorists for their patience.

Anyone with information is asked to call Dorset Police on 101, quoting incident number 15:758, or the free and anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111.
