BOSS Jonathan Woodgate insisted losing to south coast rivals Saints “won’t be damaging” to Cherries as they look to push for the Championship play-offs.
The Dorset club were thumped 3-0 by their Premier League rivals and in turn missed the chance to meet Leicester City in a Wembley FA Cup semi-final next month.
But head coach Woodgate has told his players to forget about their latest defeat to Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side.
Asked about the loss against their St Mary’s neighbours, Woodgate said: “It won’t be damaging on this team.
“I have told them straight away ‘forget about that game’. That game is gone.
“It would have been a bonus getting to a semi-final without question of a doubt.
“But the league is the most important thing this year. Our last game against Swansea (in the league), we were very, very good.
“That’s the most important thing. The confidence won’t be hurt – maybe a bit of pride but that’s gone – we move on.”
Cherries head into the international break seventh in the Championship, three points behind sixth-placed Reading with a game in hand.
