Do you remember the shopping precinct on Wimborne Road, Kinson?
The parade of shops pictured here circa 1970 were popular for many years at this time. Shops included Woolcrafts children’s wear, Dewhurst the butchers, Salon Christine, the Colour Centre, T.Whitby the Baker & Confectioner, Rainbow’s, Kinson Farm Market and Pricerite supermarket to name a few.
In 2013, only three shops remained at the site which was due to be demolished along with the neighbouring Royal Oak Pub to make way for a new Tesco store. Demolition of the parade of shops started in late 2013 with the Tesco store opening its doors in 2015. Photo: Grahame Austin Collection.
