THE UK’S only beach yoga festival on Bournemouth beach is to return this year for its second instalment.
Beach Yoga Fest, an event celebrating the practice of yoga in its many forms, is to be held on the beach from Friday June 18 and Sunday June 20, the weekend before the International Day of Yoga on June 21.
The event is still the only one of its kind in the UK and will once again be looking to attract a variety of participants, from beginners to the more experienced yogi.
Co-founder of Beach Yoga Fest Nina Fox said: “We are really excited to be putting on the festival again. Lockdown has really shone a light on how people have dealt with their mental and physical well-being.
“We want to help show the benefits of Yoga and the calming effects that it can have on people.”
The first Beach Yoga Fest, held from June 21 to June 23, 2019 proved to be a huge success, with hundreds of people attending over the three days.
However last year’s event was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
This year’s event will feature more than 60 classes, including Yin Yoga, Ashtanga, Sunrise Meditation, Acro Yoga and Energising Yoga Flow.
There will also be seminars, wellbeing classes and massage for people to take part in.
The festival will be located opposite to the right of Bournemouth Pier opposite the Happyland arcade and will be bigger than the set-up in 2019.
This year’s event will feature two yoga class areas, a themed chillout area with deck chairs, tables and parasols, stalls selling healthy food and drink including vegetarian and vegan options, and an area for seminar and class to take place.
Ali Sheik, another Co-Founder of the event added: “2020 was awful and had such an impact on people.
“Businesses and events were cancelled, and the knock-on effect are still being felt.
“However, local events like Beach Yoga Fest will help provide an opportunity for people to take part in something fun, healthy and unique.”
The team have already confirmed sponsorship from Madding Crowd, Hearnes Estate Agents, Shepherds Neame and Double Dutch.
Organisers are also in discussions with a number of other brands and will announce further details on their social media pages.
