PURBECK police will be stepping-up patrols at Lytchett Bay nature reserve, after receiving reports of camping and a camp fire.
Unauthorised camping is not allowed at the site, and campfires are also banned.
Last year's massive Wareham Forest Fire, one of the largest wildfires in Dorset history, was thought to have been started by a campfire or a disposable barbecue.
On that occasion some 190 hectares of land, much of it protected, was damaged.
On the Lytchett Bay nature reserve reports, a spokesman for Purbeck police said: "We would like to remind everyone that this is not an area for camping and also for having camp fires.
"We will be completing patrols in the area to monitor this."
