THE POPULAR Verwood Carnival has been cancelled due to coronavirus restrictions.
The event was due to take place on Monday May 31 but organisers have decided to wait until next year when they will hold a special carnival to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.
A statement on the carnival’s Facebook page says: “We are saddened to announce that there will not be a carnival in 2021.

“Restrictions are thankfully starting to lift, but too close to our dates to be able to give you all the full carnival experience. But fear not. Verwood Carnival Jubilee week is in full planning for 2022."
Organisers have encouraged community groups and potential stallholders to "get in touch and be a part of it."
