BOURNEMOUTH has been named in the top 10 places in the UK for a road trip destination, according to new research.

Research by Uswitch, an online and telephone comparison and switching service, ranked Bournemouth at number eight.

The company analysed an extensive list of UK cities, coastal, and countryside holiday destinations, to discover which are being Googled the most in relation to road trips.

The number of searches from June and July 2020 were compared with January and March 2021, highlighting which locations have seen the biggest spikes, and where in the UK people are looking to visit this year.

Leeds proved to be the most Googled road trip destination in the last two months as it featured in over 7,000 monthly searches.

Beyond the major cities, seaside town Bournemouth saw a 167 per cent increase of searches when compared to the same time last year.
