A MAN was found guilty of speeding when he drove at 58mph in a 30mph zone in Christchurch.
Officers from the Dorset Police No Excuse team visited Poole Magistrates’ Court to give evidence in the case of Stephen John Kingston, 64, of Chestnut Avenue Southbourne, as part of a busy shift.
He was caught speeding on Barrack Road in Christchurch in April last year. Magistrates found him guilty and fined hum £552, ordered him to pay a surcharge of £55 and £150 in costs. His driving record was endorsed with six points.
A spokesperson for the No Excuse team said: “Providing evidence, he was found guilty and received six point and over £600 in fines, he’s now on 10 points and on his last warning - was this a fair result?"
Officers then caught a number of drivers travelling illegally in the area.
The spokesperson continued: “A black Mercedes was seen on his phone talking along Christchurch Road, Boscombe - phone to ear, no regard to anyone, he pleaded it was just a quick call of 20 seconds. Six points, £200 fine issued.
“The white van was seen driving dangerously in the back streets of Boscombe, pulling out of junctions without looking.
“The van didn’t look in great condition, checks showed no insurance, tax and MOT expired in 2017. The driver also had a revoked licence, he was reported to court for all offences.
“We received reports of a male who was continuing to drive with a revoked licence in West Parley, we caught up with him on Magna Road in the blue Ford.
“The driver was caught speeding in his first year of driving at over 50mph in a 30mph, the court decided to revoke his licence to redo his driving test due to the risk - he continued to drive, he now has another court date booked for driving with no insurance and licence and will be disqualified for a period now instead of just retaking his test.
“Later in the day we attended a single vehicle collision on Holme Lane, Wareham, the driver lost control and luckily missed the trees and wasn’t seriously injured, a very lucky escape.”
