A VILLAGE pub that champions locally sourced food has been crowned Pub of the Week.
The Greyhound Inn in Winterborne Kingston is a country pub that serves traditional, home-cooked pub food.
It also boasts a popular village shop that stocks local produce, as well as five large en suite letting rooms which will open next week as restrictions ease.
The Greyhound Inn is run by Emma Proudley and Andy Hathaway who bought the pub in April 2019.
Emma said: "The Greyhound Inn is a pub for everyone to enjoy and we’re what a traditional pub should be. We offer traditional meals such as burgers, fish and chips, scampi and more, and our roasts have been really popular recently.
"We have also introduced a flatbread, an alternative to a normal sandwich. This has also been really popular. Specials are also available depending on what local produce we have.
"We’re family-orientated and our customers are really important to us. What people think about us tends to be more than just our food and drink, it’s also about our service. We have become a real hub of the community.
"All of our customers are looked after the same and treated equally. Andy and I also work front of house so it’s a personal service and not just our staff out the front."

Emma and Andy created the pub's community shop earlier this year as a means to support the business during the pandemic.
This was proven to be a success, and now the pair have implemented further measures to make customers' dining experiences as enjoyable and as easy as possible in the current climate.
Emma said: "The past year has been difficult, but we have adapted. There are screens between our main bar (the snug bar is currently closed) and tables.
"We have an app for ordering which makes it easier for our customers and us to withstand contact. We are adapting to the rules as best we can to make people feel safe. Our large garden has also been a big advantage for us.
"It’s not been an easy year, and never did I expect when we took the pub on in 2019 this would happen. But, it makes people appreciate things a bit more. You don’t just go to places for something to eat now."
Emma and Andy have introduced a large outdoor canopy which they hope will be used for live music events in the future, along with outdoor dining.
