AT FIRST, I was also unsure of the name of our amalgamated councils – BCP. And I am equally unsure of Barrie Edmund-White’s suggestion – Wessex City.
But I now believe this acronym is the perfect, neutral way to ensure that Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch will each retain their character and heritage.
BCP is definitely not a destination, and I can’t think many visitors would look forward to going to Wessex City for their holidays.
But as we look forward to an exciting and busy summer, people will definitely say that they live in, or are going to, Poole, or Christchurch, or Bournemouth and those well-loved names will immediately conjure up an image of the beautiful and unique towns that make up this area.
Let’s leave it that way.
