A NINE-year-old girl from Corfe Mullen has "put her heart and soul" into fundraising for Poole Hospital with her litter picking.
Honey Harmer-Hudson, who goes to Canford Heath Junior School, has been raising money to create and donate some hampers for nurses at Poole Hospital.
Honey and her mum Lucie have been litter picking for over a month in aid of the hospital's nurses, with the aim of raising £100.
However, the pair have surpassed that target and raised £555.
Lucie said: "The Corfe Mullen community are really cheering Honey on and she has received such lovely messages of thanks and support. She has really put her heart and soul into this by hand delivering 120 letters to our neighbours spreading the word and personally thanking every person who has donated. We have so far collected three big bags of litter."
Honey's fundraising efforts come after the government has recommended that NHS staff in England should receive a one per cent pay increase this year.
Honey said: "When Mummy told me that nurses were only receiving a one per cent pay rise, I didn't think that was fair. I had asked for a litter picker-upper for Christmas as seeing litter makes me feel sad.
"Mummy set up a JustGiving page and we have started fundraising by picking up litter in the beautiful country roads near our house. I'm really excited to be raising money to put together some hampers for the nurses at Poole Hospital as a treat for them to make them smile."
