FIREFIGHTERS tackled a fire on Turbary Common last night.
The fire service was alerted to the fire at 7.04pm and a pump from Redhill Park along with a pump, L4T (Light 4x4 Tender vehicle) and water carrier from Poole were mobilised to the scene.
A futher four pumps were later requested, taking the total number to six, along with five L4T's, which were mobilised from Ferndown, Wimborne, Christchurch, Hamworthy and Ringwood.
The fire was surrounded and extinguished by 7.55pm after crews used Hose Reels, Main Lines and the L4T's.
The UNIMOG from Wareham was also mobilised due to the nature of the incident.
The incident was scaled down shortly after and a small number of appliances stayed as a precaution to monitor in the event of any flare ups or reignition.
There was no reignition and crews left the scene.
