A DEMENTIA friendly group in Wimborne has been able to produce creative materials and resources for their elderly clients thanks to a donation from J.P. Morgan.
In Jolly Good Company offer dementia friendly indoor and outdoor activities to the attendants of their group to help promote better health and the improve the physical and mental health of elderly people.
A donation from J.P. Morgan will be used to help develop and create some art and craft videos as part of ‘Jolly TV’, as well as to provide some materials to encourage people to have a go at being creative at home.
Director of In Jolly Good Company Sarah Rampton said: “Our short nature-based films are aiming to give a sense of wellbeing and a feeling of having been out to discover a beautiful place and have a chat with the locals.
“We are very grateful to J.P. Morgan for helping us with this important work of combating loneliness and isolation for older people living in Dorset.”
‘Jolly TV’ is a collaborative project with Dorset Council ‘Better Days’ assistive technology pilot scheme. So far the Council has distributed digital devices to 30 people who would normally attend Day Centres, to enable them to take part in virtual activities.
In Jolly Good Company have been invited to create some content as part of the initiative, which they expect will be available later this month.
Sarah Maher, a member of the J.P. Morgan Community Relations Committee said: “We were delighted to be able to offer some assistance to this excellent project.”
