I HAVE just queued behind a bus in the road works in Wallisdown Road near the Mountbatten end.
Thankfully there wasn’t an emergency ambulance coming the other way at the time as the traffic was at a standstill and no way emergency vehicles could pass.
This is a road that has been under construction since last October and it looks like it will continue for several months more and I hate to think how many millions of pounds it is costing.
The so-called improvement’s have resulted in a narrow road for two way traffic, the road itself is not straight and it beggars belief there is no bus layby on either side of the road.
But of course there is wide paths for cycle, pedestrians and at one end a third path for I can’t think what – maybe horses?
This is a major A road, particularly for emergency vehicles, and all it has done is made it harder for them leading to possible crucial delays to hospital.
For what – the occasional rare cyclist I see on my regular daily journeys along Wallisdown road .
A thought, why not repair the awful state many of our roads are in – not just potholes but complete breakdown of entire road surfaces.
