IF the convicted drug dealer, Mr Akinyemi, was able to escape jail for the myriad of serious offences (to which he pleaded guilty) one wonders when he will pay for his life of crime, if ever.
The police officers who chased him down did us all a great service, yet will be wondering why they bothered! Mr Akinyemi – with 12 previous convictions – is given yet another suspended sentence. The police officers must have shaken their heads in disbelief.
Mr Pilgerstorfer, the Crown Court Recorder, observed that “the threshold for a custodial sentence had been crossed” but thought that Mr Akinyemi’s rehabilitation was … likely. Based on prior behaviour? After 12 previous convictions?
One wonders what level of self-delusion and naivety Mr Pilgerstorfer inhabits; if he genuinely believes that Mr Akinyemi is a sinner ripe for repentance, he must have seen more pigs flying passed the Crown Court than Mr Akinyemi’s multiple assurances.
