I HAVE found a cure for the lockdown blues.
Since restrictions were eased, I have called regularly at the Beacon Café in Church Road, Ferndown, for a fortifying cuppa and a delicious Belgian bun.
I then walk through to the adjoining St Mary’s Church and meditate within a reverential atmosphere of peace and love. After a few minutes, my sanity is restored and I feel rejuvenated.
There is a printed sign at the entrance to the church that reads: “Welcome to St Mary’s church. We hope that you enjoy the peace of this place of prayer and spend some time to just ‘be’ for a while.”
I recommend to anyone wishing to find peace of mind that they visit the Beacon Cafe, a truly delightful place to be, before entering St Mary’s Church, the perfect place to just “be”.
