RESIDENTS of a Poole close held a successful street party in aid of Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance.
Isaacs Close residents partied on the evening of Sunday, July 25 to raise funds for their chosen charity.
The street party was the brainchild of Darren Chisman, owner of Blitz Disco following his success at making last year's Clap for Carers in the close extra special.
Residents Amanda Ferreira, Sue Haynes and Lyndsey Russell helped to organise the fun fundraiser.
Amanda said: "The party was held to lift everybody's spirits as everyone has had such a tough year. We're hopefully heading towards the end of the tunnel now.
"It has been great for our mental health, today (the morning after) we are all buzzing.
"We had no idea how much we were going to raise, but I think we have done well as people have been very generous. At this stage we really don't know how much we have raised as we haven't done the final count yet.
"We had a great day."
Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance was chosen as it receives no direct funding from the government or National Lottery and relies on public donations.
Outside of the close, local businesses showed their support for the fundraiser.
Amanda said: "Blitz Disco was there all day and a bouncy castle was donated to us for a few hours. We also had Brad the Elvis impersonator who was incredible.
"Fireworks were kindly donated by Sea View Fireworks as the owner wanted to support the charity. A lot of neighbours donated raffle prizes and Sainsbury's in Alder Road donated food for our barbecue and were very generous with their donation by giving us discount on the food.
"There were between 80 and 100 people at the party which included neighbours from our neighbouring street, Bishops Close. The youngest attendee was six days old with the oldest aged over 60.
"People had to buy tickets to attend for catering purposes, but when we had the initial idea we didn't expect that amount. But word spread and momentum grew and it was a fun time for all."
