THE family of a man who went missing in Poole has thanked the public for their support as searches continue in an effort to locate him.
As reported, Callum Osborne-Ward was unaccounted for following an incident in the water off Rockley Park on Monday afternoon.
Dorset Police received a report at 3.52pm on July 26 raising concern for people in the water off Rockley Park.
Emergency services attended and ten people were checked over by the ambulance service, with three of them taken to hospital as a precaution.
Following enquiries, it was established that 18-year-old Callum was missing and a multi-agency search operation was launched.
The operation has continued throughout Tuesday, July 27, with search efforts along the shoreline and in the water in a bid to try and find Callum.
As the search efforts continue, Dorset Police has been asked to issue a message of thanks on behalf of Callum’s family for the support shown by the local community, with donations of clothing, shoes, blankets, food and drink delivered to them at Rockley Park, which the family says it really appreciates.
They added that they were overwhelmed by the generosity of members of the public.
Chief Inspector Claire Phillips, of Dorset Police, said: “All the agencies involved in these searches have been working tirelessly over the past 24 hours as we continue to make every effort to find Callum.
“We are doing everything we can to support his family and I would echo their thanks to the local community for the generosity they have shown.
“I would continue to urge anyone with any information that might assist our efforts to locate Callum to please contact Dorset Police immediately.”
Dorset Police has been working together with a dive team from Devon & Cornwall Police and colleagues from HM Coastguard, RNLI, Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service, Southern IFCA (Inshore Fisheries & Conservation Authority), NPAS and Solent search and rescue helicopters.
On the night of Monday 26 July 2021, officers were also assisted by Dorset Search & Rescue (DorSAR).
