POLICE were unable to locate a man believed to be in possession of a firearm in Bournemouth on Tuesday evening.
A heavy police presence was seen in Bournemouth town centre, with the armed and dog units both called.
A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: “Dorset Police received a report at 6.21pm on Tuesday, July 27, 2021, of a man in possession of what was believed to be a firearm in Winter Gardens car park in Bournemouth.
“Officers attended and carried out extensive searches of the area, but the man was not located.
“There are no reports of any firearm being discharged or any injuries to members of the public.
“There will continue to be an increased police presence in the area and enquiries to identify the man involved are ongoing.”
