THE spectacular weekly fireworks across the conurbation kick off tonight at Poole Quay.
Having been called out last year due to the pandemic, the popular free night-time events are expected to draw big crowds.
Two minutes of bright green fireworks will mark the beginning of the entertainment in Poole, which will take place every Thursday, up to and including September 2.
Cllr Beverley Dunlop, BCP Council lead member for Festival Coast Live, said: “Everyone involved in organising this year’s events has gone above and beyond to ensure that residents and visitors can enjoy world-class outdoor entertainment, in line with ongoing government guidelines. We’re really looking forward to hosting this exciting and popular event in this beautiful location.”

The fireworks are part of the CityFibre Spectacular, which will bring a series of themed nights to Poole Quay. The entertainment starts at 7pm and runs through until 10pm, with the fireworks providing a dramatic end to the night.
Lucy Cooper, city manager of CityFibre, said: “We have been working incredibly hard alongside our colleagues at BCP Council to provide this year’s sterling entertainment.
"It is an event we know is so popular with residents and visitors alike which is why we have done all we can to ensure we can deliver six specially themed evenings and the all-important firework displays to all.”
Meanwhile, the fireworks at Bournemouth Pier will resume next Friday, August 6.
The free event also sees a bright range of pyrotechnics fill the night's sky at 10pm.
The weekly Bournemouth attraction will take place every Friday in August.
Both weekly firework displays are organised by BCP Tourism and make up part of the Festival Coast Live activity and events programme which is running across the conurbation this summer.
