A DORSET wheelchair user who is on a quest to become a professional trumpet player is holding a fundraiser to help his dreams come true.
Harry Bassett's love for music began aged three and since then he has played at various events, from charity functions to weddings, and he has even at the Royal Albert Hall.
He has now gained a place at Trinity College in London and has the backing of the Dorset Children’s Foundation to help raise money for specialist equipment.
Harry said: "Through my work both in Victoria School and the local music scene I always encourage people to give anything a try, irrelevant of disability or background.
"I really do believe you can achieve anything you want in life, you just have to believe in yourself and go for it."
Co-founder of the DCF, Patsy Hallmey said: "Harry is an extremely talented and inspirational young man and the DCF want to support him and help make his dreams be realised. Disability equipment is so expensive and it would be great to get some help from the local community."
To help raise funds for a Rio Firefly and other pieces of equipment, Harry is holding an 'On the Road to London' music fundraiser at Bournemouth Electric Club on Thursday, August 5.
The evening will also feature performances from Siobhan & The Sunset Haze and Mischa & His Merry Men, a two course meal and a raffle.
Advance tickets are £14 and are available at www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/harrys-on-the-road-to-london-music-fundraiser-tickets-153778125513
Or tickets cost £18 on the door, subject to availability.
Doors open at 7pm.
