A SOUTHBOURNE shop has been nominated for a prestigious sewing award, less than two years after opening.
Haberdasherdo, in Southbourne Grove, has been nominated for the title of Best Independent Haberdashery in the 2021 British Sewing Awards, one of just five stores nominated across the South West.
Owner Jane Scott said: “It’s a real honour to have been nominated for this prize, especially after everything we’ve all been through with the pandemic.
“We’ve worked really hard to make the shop a welcoming and friendly space where sewers, knitters and crafters of whatever ability can come for help and advice with their projects, as well as all the fabrics, wool and accessories that they need.”
Nominations are put forward by the readers of Sew magazine.
Sew editor Lucy Jobber said: “The British Sewing Awards gives Sew readers the chance to give back and vote for all of the wonderful brands and personalities that make the craft industry what it is today.
“Not only that, it also shines a light on the independent shops, who offer invaluable advice and service to stitchers of all abilities across the UK.”
Jane, 54, added: “It’s great that we’ve been recognised in this way and to actually win would be the icing on the cake. But we need your votes.”
Voting opened in July and runs until September 24. You can vote at www.sewmag.co.uk/awards.
