LOCAL bike share provider Beryl has teamed up with the BCP Council to launch a new ‘Park and Cycle’ scheme at Kings Park, Boscombe to provide another way of getting to the beach.
A fleet of Beryl bikes has been installed at the parking facilities at Kings Park and is ready for public use, with the first 20 minutes of bike hire from that site free between August 1 and September 5.
Councillor Mike Greene, Portfolio Holder for Transport and Sustainability, explained the motivation is to provide another way for locals and visitors to get down to the beach.
He said: “As part of our commitment to transforming travel in the area we are delighted to be offering a fun, healthy and environmentally-friendly way of getting to the beach and town centre from Kings Park using Beryl bikes.
“It complements our park and ride scheme really well and gives residents and visitors another choice of travelling around locally.”
Return journeys on the bike would be charged at the standard rate with Cllr. Greene adding he hopes “as many people as possible take advantage” of it and “have a go at biking to the beach”.
Beryl CEO, Phil Ellis has said the company is “always looking to support the council in their efforts to reduce congestion and air pollution”.
