THE ANNUAL Wimborne in Bloom Duck Race is set to return this August Bank Holiday after a year’s hiatus.
The popular event, which had to be cancelled last year due to Covid-19 restrictions, will take place on Saturday August 28 at 4pm.
All funds raised from ticket sales for the event will go towards the floral displays around the town.

Anthony Oliver, from Wimborne in Bloom, said: “The ‘ducks’ will be launched into the River Allen from the bridge at the bottom of Mill Lane, by kind permission of the owner Chris Slocock, and cross the finishing line in the garden at the back of the Rising Sun in East Street.”
There are six money prizes to be won with the owner of the first duck home receiving £50, and the next four runners up to receive prizes as well.
In 2019, the 20th Wimborne in Bloom Duck Race raised £1,758 towards ‘In Bloom’ funds and, in particular, the autumn planting.
Tickets cost £1 each and will be on sale outside the Co-Op Store in Crown Mead and outside Waitrose on Willow Walk on the days leading up to the race.
