A BOURNEMOUTH teenager has been sentenced by the courts for offences related to having a machete-style knife and his use of an e-scooter.

The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was accused of having the blade in the town in January.

He also faced charges of being the driver of an e-scooter and failing to stop the vehicle when required to do so by a police constable in uniform, driving without a licence and using a motor vehicle without insurance.

The 16-year-old pleaded guilty to all four offences when he appeared at a youth court hearing in Poole.

Magistrates referred the yboy to a youth offender panel for nine months.

His driving record was endorsed with six points and two large knives were seized.

The bench also ordered that a £22 surcharge must be paid.
