A BOURNEMOUTH man is braving the shave later this month after growing his hair throughout lockdown.
Brian Miles, 68, is fundraising for Macmillan Caring Locally in Christchurch as a means of saying thank you for all they have done for him and others.
Brian said: “I have lost a lot of friends and family to cancer, and I have gone through it myself. I have had 20 sessions of radiotherapy for lung cancer.
“The cancer unit have done so much for me so I wanted to give something back. The amount of help that’s there is amazing. They offer you everything.
“It is very important to me. I lost both of my parents to cancer.”
Brian’s fundraiser will be held at the Winton and Moordown Royal British Legion Club on Sunday, August 29 at 3pm.
Bar Manager, Ross Lees said: “Brian has been a member for many years. Two years ago he was diagnosed with cancer amazingly he hasn’t lost his hair. It’s so long he’s looking like a hippy from the 1960s.
“I have arranged for entertainment and will be reducing the cost of drinks to encourage members to donate to this very worthwhile charity.
“Brian is really up for doing the shave, and we’re hoping to raise a fair bit of money for the Macmillan Unit.”
