FORMER Bournemouth and Poole College site Constitution Hill is one of the many sites BCP Council has identified as a potential opportunity for the newly formed Urban Regeneration Company.
The authority purchased the former Jellicoe Theatre plot back in 2014 with plans for a potential new secondary school.
However, those proposals never came to light and now the council is looking at developing the site for mixed accommodation.

In a statement provided to the Daily Echo by BCP Council it confirmed that these proposals are nothing more than that currently.
A spokesperson for the authority said: “The Constitution Hill site is one of a number of sites identified as opportunities to be taken forward by the council’s newly formed Urban Regeneration Company (URC).
“The council’s housing service is working closely with URC staff to consider the design and place making aspects of the site in order to bring forward the best possible residential led scheme.
“There will be full consultation with the local community and other stakeholders as work on these proposals progresses.”
A freedom of information request (FOI) revealed a date in regard to a public consultation would be decided once the design was developed.
The FOI also stated that several buildings have heritage status but are not listed buildings.
Whether all the current buildings are demolished and developed into new homes will be ‘decided, based on discussions with designers and planning officers in due course.’
Six years ago the site was one of two locations under consideration for a new secondary school to meet demand from 2018 onwards, along with the Dolphin Centre, after the council paid £1.9m for the land.

Prior to the council’s ownership it was the property Bournemouth and Poole College.
No school was ever built at Constitution Hill and it has remained undeveloped since the council’s acquisition.
