PUBLIC loos on Poole Quay which have been closed for much of the pandemic months are now open.
The situation was described as ‘totally unacceptable’ at a BCP Council's overview and scrutiny meeting earlier in the year.
At this week’s meeting chairman Cllr Stephen Bartlett said he was delighted to report that the Dolphin Quays toilets were now open, but added that not all the ‘issues’ around the agreement behind their use had been resolved.
He had written to the council’s head of planning, Mark Axford, to try and get the closure reversed.
Cllr Bartlett said there were still some issues over the agreement which staff were continuing to address and said that, in parallel, some local councillors were continuing to explore the technical details of the agreement.
The toilets were provided for public use as part of the planning consent for redevelopment on the site.
At the previous meeting Cllr Mark Howell described the toilet closure as: “completely unacceptable” and said he would like to know why the authority had ended up with an agreement which seemed not to be enforceable.
