FROM the Spice Girls to Van Halen, Stevie Wonder and Queen - the Glad Rag Production Company are promising the "ultimate party playlist" when they take to the stage at the Regent Centre in Christchurch.
The company behind the annual sequin-studded Christmas Spectacular has this year also put together a Summer Spectacular, promising to whisk audiences through all their favourite musical genres including pop, rock, disco, country and soul.
Stuck in self-isolation, the cast begin dreaming up a post-lockdown party and compile a playlist full of some of the best songs of all time, with something for the whole family to enjoy.
The team of professional performers will don their obligatory sequins and sparkle, with outfits created specially for the production by Mudeford-based Carry On Costumes, which also supplies clothing for West End shows.
Put together as a one-act show, the Summer Spectacular features teams of local children who auditioned to take part earlier in the year. In order to include as many talented youngsters as possible, and to get children back performing after more than a year without the magic of a theatre experience, the company created seven different teams, taking children from an older age range who usually miss out on the chance to perform in panto and Christmas productions.
Each team will feature in one performance of the show, which takes place at the Regent Centre from Thursday, August 26 to Sunday, August 29 with both matinee and evening performances.
Glad Rags will be back at the theatre in December with its annual Christmas Spectacular.
Tickets for both productions are on sale now, from regentcentre.co.uk
