DOZENS of firefighters from across Dorset rushed to tackle a fire at Parley Common in Ferndown.
The fire service was alerted to the blaze by a member of the public who was in the area shortly after 3.30pm on Sunday, August 29.
The concerned resident reported that the fire was "travelling and growing at quite a rate".

Issuing a warning on social media, Dorset & Wiltshire Fire Control said: "We are currently in attendance at a fire on Parley Common, Ferndown.
"The crews are currently in the process of extinguishing the fire but the area is heavily smoke logged.
"We would advise local residents to keep doors and windows closed at this time."

A control room spokesman told the Daily Echo that crews from Ferndown, Springbourne, Ringwood, Christchurch, Poole, Wareham, Verwood and Wimborne were in attendance.
The fire had reportedly spread to around four hectares of the nature reserve.
By 5.30pm one fire engine was still on the heath, with crew members dampening down the scene.
