SPENDING plans totalling around £10 million are expected to be agreed by Dorset Council’s Cabinet when it meets next week.
Much of the spending will be tendered to organisations outside the authority – including printed materials and mailshot services costing an estimated £1.6m over four years.
Other spending areas include £2m over 5 years for what has been described as ‘wholesale connectivity’ IT services and £1.25m in consultancy over five years on new roads and street works plans and inspections.
For social care £1.43m is in the budget over 7 years for family-based short breaks and £1.47 over 8 years for ‘assertive rough sleeper outreach and navigator services’.
The purchase of winter maintenance and gritting vehicles has a one-off £1.15m payment with £1m over four years for a corporate vehicle body repair service.
Included in the list is £1.3m over two years for 5G roll out to provide coverage for the Lulworth firing ranges although this funding is being provided by the Ministry of Defence with Dorset Council acting as the contracting body for the project.
