MORE than 1,200 parking tickets were issued across the conurbation over the bank holiday weekend.

BCP Council said it would use enforcement against people who parked vehicles illegally or did not buy the required ticket.

The local authority confirmed it issued 351 parking notices on Saturday, 396 on Sunday and 472 on Monday.

Tow away powers were used against two vehicles in Poole on Sunday.

A BCP Council spokesperson said: "The weekend has been manageable, with hard work from all our seafront, parks and waste operations teams. Our civil enforcement officers have been able to manage the demand that comes from there being a large number of visitors.

"Without any major incidents, we are happy with our response over bank holiday weekend. "

The eight days from August 23 to August 30, saw 1,570 people use the King's Park park and ride service, while 80 people used the £5 rider off from Poole Civic Centre to Sandbanks over the same period.
