STURMINSTER Newton Amateur Dramatic Society will be performing that traditional rags to riches favourite Dick Whittington as their annual pantomime next month.
The first panto ever performed at the town's new Exchange, it tells the time honoured story of how penniless Dick arrives in London expecting to find streets paved with gold.
Sadly all he finds is King Rat and his trickery. However by befriending a stray cat (Tommy) and with some help from Fairy Bowbelle he meets Alice Fitzwarren (the girl of his dreams), rids London of rats - by way of a nifty visit to Morocco - and goes on to become Lord Mayor of London three times.
Helping and hindering Dick along the way are Sarah the Cook, Idle Jack, Alderman Fitzwarren, Shovel & Spade and other friends with a joke or two and some songs and dances to help the show along.
Featuring many SNADS favourites and some new faces the show, which will run from February 13 to 16, gives the audiences the chance to boo, hiss & cheer Dick on through his adventures.
