A CLIMBER was rescued after falling and dislocating his shoulder.
Teams from Portland and Wyke coastguard rescue teams were called out at 7.24pm last night after receiving reports of an injured climber.
A man had fallen roughly 5m down cliff near Blacknor Point, Portland, and dislocated his shoulder.
Coastguards strapped his shoulder and helped him to the top of the cliff, where he was taken to Dorset County Hospital.
A spokesman for Portland Bill Coastguard Rescue Team said: "Team tasked by Solent Coastguard along with Wyke Coastguard Rescue Team (CRT) to a male climber that had fallen approximately 5m and suffered a dislocated shoulder on the cliffs, north of Blacknor Point.
"On scene the casualty was located and the dislocated shoulder secured using strapping. With the shoulder now secured, the teams were able to assist the male climber back to the top of the cliff, where he was then transferred by Wyke CRT to Dorset County Hospital for a full assessment.
"On completion the teams stood down and returned to their stations. We wish the male climber all the best in his recovery."
