ENJOY homemade, fresh food in a pub at the heart of a picturesque village just 1.5 miles behind Corfe Castle.
The New Inn, located in the village of Church Knowle on the Isle of Purbeck and run by the Estop family, is this week's Pub of the Week.
The family-run pub was originally part of a 16th century working farm and the Estop name is only the third name on the license in 150 years.
Joint licensee and head chef, Matthew Estop said: "The New Inn has been our family-run business since 1984.
"We are very traditional and have kept many things the same. Half of the roof is thatched, and the other half is stone is stone rock.
"We serve our famous Dorset Blue Vinny Soup, featuring Blue Vinny cheese, an ingredient that has been on the menu everyday for over 30 years after being created in 1985.
"We do all homemade food and fresh fish and we do our best to source local ales. We also have a wine cellar. Our ales and wine are very popular and we have a large selection of gins and rum."
The pub is full of olde world charm and is situated in a valley surrounded by rolling Purbeck hills, ideal for walkers who want to stretch their legs after a filling meal.
The New Inn offers a winter menu, which includes classic British cuisine and fresh fish, and a summer menu that includes fresh local produce and seafood from local waters.
Matthew said: "Our unique selling point is probably our fresh fish, which we are very well known for.
"Alongside our food, we have a large terrace and fireplace to create ambience. We also have a large beer garden out the back and a small campsite that holds 10 pitches.
"The lockdown period was difficult for us like it was for other people. Since we have been open, we have had a lot of support and have been extremely busy. But, there has been a lack of produce and staff."
Matthew is already looking ahead to Christmas by taking bookings and creating menus due to high demand.
